The grounds
You turn right in front of the pillar and follow the track as it turns to the left and continues towards the house. Here the land is gently sloping and divided into terraces by low rocky divides. Further on the driveway climbs between the trees, and after the shady boules terrain on the right it divides into two at the start of the one way system, and you get your first sight of the wonderful view over the hills and villages to the North.
The swimming pool terrace opens up to the right, and you arrive at the circular fish pond and fountain. there are about forty goldfish in residence - and one frog. ( We ask guests to kindly feed the fish with the food provided)
You park the car under the trees and head towards the arched entrance porch. Now you can see the pool spread out in front of you. It is only a few paces from the house, and is surrounded by a large paved terrace with sunloungers and tables, a barbecue, a dining table and a swing seat.
Past the paved area to the South is a wide, open terrace with a scattering of trees such as olive, strawberry and juniper, with in the distance lofty pines allowing glimpses to hills beyond.
There is a smell of lavender in the air from the bushes near the kitchen, and as you walk around the land you may recognise a whole bouquet of different perfumes escaping from the plants underfoot - thyme, oregano, wild mint lemon balm and rue.You may also notice rosemary and bay.
La Pierre Qui Chante, a private paradise far from the noise of roads, where you are not overlooked or close to neighbours, and the eight acre grounds serve as a protection from the outside world. In spite of this you are only 5 minutes by road from the village of St Paul en Foret, and 10 minutes from Fayence, the main village of the area.
